Join Complications Company and BurlingtonVT Moms Blog at Off Center for the Dramatic Arts for a fun afternoon of staged readings about all that is marvelous and infuriating about moms!

Local playwrights (including Meredith Gordon, Seth Jarvis, Emer Pond Feeney and Kim Jordan, among many other stellar writers) had 24 hours to write a short play based on ANOTHER playwright's mother.

A company of local actors (Cael Barkman, Karen Lefkoe, Sarah Mell and Jena Necrason) together with directors Laura Roald and Mary Beth McNulty have five hours to bring these brand new plays to life.

This weekend is a theatrical intensive on bringing ideas to the stage quick, with passion, style, wit and flair.

Other Mothers Participating writers fill in our online questionnaire about their own mothers, we collect them and randomly assign that character description to a fellow writer.  Everyone will use the information provided as a writing prompt to create a short piece in 24 hours, which will then be lightning-staged with our ensemble of four actors and presented to the public on Sunday, May 6, 4:00 p.m. at Off Center for the Dramatic Arts.  Judges from BurlingtonVT Moms Blog will crown one of the presented works "MOTHER OF THE YEAR".
Up for this challenge?  Ready to see how another writer sees your mom, be she a dearest mother or a Mommy Dearest? (though most likely, she lives somewhere comfortably in between) Sign up online today, and we will see you on May 4th for a playwright's meeting at Butch + Babe's!
